Ottawa Walls & Ceilings Training Center
The Local Apprenticeship Committee for the Drywall, Acoustics and Interior systems trade in Ottawa has been active in carrying out its training mandate since its inception in 1973.
That training mandate is, and has been since the work of the Committee started, directed at ensuring that the training needs of industry employees, employers and purchasers of construction services are met.
Reflecting the two groups who both benefit from and contribute to training, there are four trustees on the joint local committee from labour, and four trustees from the management. Those trustees meet, as the Local Apprenticeship Committee, on a quarterly basis, and more frequently where required, as part of an ongoing commitment to training needs are being met.
| Management: | Labour: |
|---|---|
| Robert Delaney | Vic Quintal |
| Armand Labrosse | Maurice Potvin |
| Andre Soubliere | Dan Bard |
In response to the identification of a need for training facility, and training programs for the trade, the Local apprenticeship Committee formed the Walls & Ceilings Training Center, which was incorporated on February 9, 1998. As part of its ongoing commitment to facilitating training for the trade, the LAC has pledged to continue providing supplies for the (bilingual) in-school training program at the Walls & Ceilings Training Center, much as it had done in the past with the Algonquin College, which was the former training provider for the trade.

The directors of the corporation, who are themselves representative of both labour and management, are:
Robert Delaney - President
Donald Guilbeault - Secretary / Treasurer
Maurice Potvin - Director
Armand Labrosse - Director
Sarah Soucy - Training Co-ordinator
